Flowers and the Mental challenge of Art Prize

This is a little purple flower that I guess is a weed. It grows everywhere and especially in my garden. This is a 12" by 16" watercolor painting. I am getting more use to the tube painting but still do not like it as much as the colored pencil paintings. Oh well such is life. I am finding a very sad response to the pictures I have drawn for Art Prize. People seem to like the idea that I will give the pictures to the significant others after the contest is done. I don't think people like confronting the fact that all these young men died. It is a close reminder that we are really losing men daily and this is very painful. I think it is also wearing on me. I feel a sadness in my heart every time I show this work. I certainly have not shown it as much as the last two entries. I am not sure about this all I will just have to see.

Water Color Flower.

This is one of the flowers I painted using only water color paint and a paint brush. I am happy with it and am getting more use to the blending of paint. I think I will do a couple of more and then try doing a picture of a person. Spent the weekend in the Detroit area watching my son, his wife and kids do something call a muddy buddy run and ride. We then went to a play place were my 5 year old grandson amazed me by climbing a very high climbing wall. He believes he can so something and then just does it. What a gift. I am working on getting this frame of mind. The lack of fear would be and incredible lifted burden. I will have to work on it.

Flowers and Art Prize

I have know idea what type of flower this was but painted it because I thought it was pretty. I say it in my friends yard so took a picture of it.

The news on Art Prize is as follows. My art will be placed at the Butterworth Hospital entrance with several other artist. I will not be with other Legacy Prize winners and this is very upsetting to me. I basically had a melt down last night about it. I don't know if I will have the support I had last year and this is freaking me out. My friend suggested we go to see the venue this week end to check it out. I am thinking about asking people to sit with me during the event but it is a lot of time and will probable be difficult for people to lend me the time for support. I will have to think about it. Thank goodness we have time to figure it out. I think asthma is triggered by anxiety.

Meadow Flowers

This picture took me forever to paint. It looks so realistic that I put Water Color painting on it to slow people down to actually see the work I put into it. It is a 12X 16" painting matted in a 20 by 16 inch mat. I have enjoyed painting more flowers lately. I am thinking about doing some paintings for the children of the casualties so they can know their fathers when they grow up. There are two of them. We will see.

Spring time flowers.

Spring is a beautiful time of year. Here are some flowers I have been painting. I just love the colors of the spring time flowers. The original photographs of the flowers comes from Emily Hansen. She is one of the mothers of the boys that died in 2010. please remember her and the other families as we pause on memorial day this year.
