Fishing Pals

This is a 16 by 20 hyper realistic, watercolor pencil painting on canvas done for a friend.  It was very frustrating to paint because the fish has so many dotes on it that it took be a long time to do.  It is difficult to get the kind of detail I want when there is so much detail.

WOW sold a Painting.

                                                              WOW
Sold this picture to a friend.  It is a watercolor pencil painting on canvas.  It is an older picture but I took some old ones from the past and put them on Facebook.  Got lucky and sold one.  Just in time to pay some hospital bills.  Being sick is very expensive and I have had to go to the hospital two times in the last two months.  I guess this will help to pay them off.  I may try to sell a few more.

So Good

This is a 16X20 watercolor pencil painting done for Legacy Trust Competition.  I recently found out that the type of art I product is called Hyper Realistic. Never new it had a name.  Hyper Realism means to paint a picture so that it looks like a photo.  I was always upset when people would say they thought my paintings looked like photo's.  Little did I know it was a compliment.  Well this painting won the prize at the Legacy Trust.  Legacy will now sponsor me in the 2017 Art Prize in Grand Rapids Michigan.  Wow I am so surprised.   The name of the painting is "So Good."  I will be in the Devos Place down town Grand Rapids.

This North American Bobcat Picture is a watercolor painting done on Canvas.  It has been donated to the Gold Star Family get together That will take place in Hell, Michigan.  It is Call the Hell and back party.  Tammy Prentler who's son Died in Afghanistan in 2010 described the event as," The patriot guard riders & military families United put on an event for the families of the fallen down in Hell, Michigan. Last year was my first event and it was fun. There is a gentleman who dresses up as the devil & his family gets involved dressing up as well. At the end of the day the "devil" & our preacher arm wrestle to see who prevails that day."  I am happy to donate this painting for this cause.

ACTion Art Results

Well I am glad to announce that "My OZ" won the peoples choice award for the ACTion Art Contest.  I will be entering the  paintings of the Kids into the Legacy Prize.  Hopefully that work will get into Art Prize.  I hate chasing competition but I really would like to sell some of these paintings.    We will see how it goes.  I wish I was done with this entry process but I keep on hoping.

Pretty in purples and pinks

I love painting water.  It makes everything in my mind feel surreal.  Maybe it is the mirror image or the color. I do not know.  This is a water color painting on canvas.  I did not use the pencils because of the need to be more free with the colors.  Hope you like it.

Water Color Water Lilly

This water color water Lilly is a 16" x 20".  It looks pretty translucent to me.  I used no water color pencils on this work.  I did the technical work with a brush rather than the pencil.  Don't know if I like this or not.  Oh well you be the judge.  It feels strange not being in  Art Prize this year.  I like not having the stress but still am struggling a little with my inability to participate because of the stress.  Well I guess it is the way it is.

The dogs in my life.

The first dog on the page is Boo.  He is a friend of mine.  He belongs to some friends who I have known since kindergarten.  She is a real dog lover and this is another of the many dogs she has cared for.  I painted a 12 by 16  inch watercolor painting for her of this friendly little dog.  I hope she likes it.

The second dog is Bubba Corn-dog. he is not friendly until you get to know him well or take him for a ride in your car.  He is a strange little critter.  This is another friends dog.  She is also a dog lover and is involved in dog rescue operations.  This is also a water color painting on canvas.  This friend received the painting last week end and loves it.  It makes me feel good that the work I do is appreciated.

Thank you again for looking at the pictures.  Feel free to give feedback it you like.

Sparta Art Contest.

This Watercolor painting on canvas was entered in the Sparta, Michigan Art Competition during Sparta days.  It won first place.  I am honored by this as it is very infrequently that I even get noticed.  I am not good with the politics of the Art World.  I do not know the common speak.  I struggle with the receptions and with the language that is spoken their.  This is not to say I have not found some good people here.  It is that I just do not feel I can make it here.  I am struggling with myself and my identity at this point.  I am struggling even with painting at all.  I do not know how to get over this.  I will post only occasionally and am sorry I can not be more consistent.

Simple but nice.

Simple but nice.  This flower is a very simple but nice portrayal of both color and light.  I liked the purple and periwinkle as well as the blends of green.  I know it has been a while.  I am hitting a wall I have not had before.  I will try to continue to post but forgive me if it isn't always regular.  When my mind gets back I will again try to be more regular.  In the mean time enjoy.

Spring Buds

Well last week it looked like spring. The tree's were budding and flowers were popping. I was able to take some time to get a few photo's for painting later. It is now very cold so I hope we don't loose all the flowers. Well this is a 16" by 20" watercolor painting on canvas. I do enjoy the flowers. I did this painting without the pencil and used watercolor paints in a tub. Enjoy.

Deer

This is a 12" by 16" watercolor painting on canvas that can currently be seen in Comstock Park on West River Drive at the Bargain Hunters Outfitters. I liked this picture because of the background. It is a matter of putting the color on and then washing it off. This is done many times with various colors. The extra water is taken of with a piece of paper towel. It is a washing technique. Its fun to do because of the contrast of the deer against the background.

Tiger Lilly up Close

This is a watercolor on canvas painting. I blended the colors by hand which was quite the challenge. It is a 16" by 12" painting and comes matted in a 20" by 16" mat. Orange is one of my favorite colors so the Tiger Lilly is one of the flowers that fills my front ditch. It is a very prolific flower and produces a ton of orange when in bloom. I charge $125.00 for a painting like this. Give me some feedback on the price. To much? Not enough? What is your Idea?

Eye of the Iris

This is a watercolor painting on canvas of the inside of an Iris. This is somewhat of and older photo I dug up and then painted the picture. It reminds me of sci-fi stuff. I liked the swirl of the pedals. It is a 16 by 20" painting. Enjoy.
